John Lennon
John Lennon was born on October 9, 1940 in Liverpool England. His Mother was a housewife and an amateur singer. His father was a sailor. His parents split when he was 4 years old and he was forced to choose between his Mother or Father. He chose his Father, but he noticed his Mom crying at his choice, and immediately ran over to her.
John was the only boy in a family of five children. His mother came upon hard times, and he ended up living with his Aunt Mimi. John was devastated when his Mother was killed by an off duty police officer who hit her with his car. This tragic event fueled his musical creativity.
Before her death, John's mother got him a guitar; all he did was play. He eventually formed a band, "The Quarry Men", named after his school. John also got into a lot of trouble as a teenager.
On December 8, 1980, after the Beatles, John Lennon was murdered in front of the hotel where he was staying.
