Richard Starkey/Parkin (a.k.a. Ringo Starr)
Ringo Starr was born on July 7, 1940. He grew up in Liverpool in a poor family. Ringo never had real memories about his dad because his mother and father were divorced when he was young. He stayed with his mother, and she did everything she could to help keep Ringo and herself alive. She was a barmaid, a step-scrubber, and also an employee in a food shop.
Ringo also grew up with his paternal grandparents. His grandmother was the voodoo queen of Liverpool. Whenever he was sick, his mother would bring him to his grandmother's house and she would cure him. Being an only child, Ringo was often the center of attention.
Ringo started to play the drums during a hospital stay in order to alleviate boredom. He continued to play throughout his young adult life, eventually landing with The Beatles, who sought out "the best drummer in Liverpool."
After the breakup of The Beatles, Ringo continues to work in the music industry, and is still at it today, with his new album, "Ringo 2012". He was also Narrator of the kid show "Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends" from 1984 to 1986.
